Technically, a Nashi is a pear. Nashi means pear in Japanese. It has been commercially grown in Australia for 12 years and originates from Northern Asia and Japan. Often served raw and peeled, the Nashi is quite large and fragrant, and when carefully wrapped can last for several weeks or more in a cold, dry place.
